DEATH SUMMONS JOHN P. DALE

John Pella Dale, tenth child of John and Nancy Dale, was born in Port Byron, Rock Island county, Illinois, Sept. 29, 1853, and passed away Dec. 5, 1933. He had passed the eightieth year.

When he was ten his parents moved to New Orleans, La. It was while here his father was drowned. The family soon moved back to Illinois. When twenty-one he located near Grinnell, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Miss Josie Gray in November, 1880. To this union three children were born: Claude, Ollie and Eva. Mrs. Dale passed away in October, 1909. In 1913 he was united in marriage to Miss Grace Black. To them Shirley was born.

It was in 1923 they moved to the vicinity of Orient, where they have since resided.

Mr. Dale was converted and united with the church when thirty, and has since been a loyal supporter of all church activities. During the last years his earing has interferred with his public activities. He was a man of sterling worth and had a confident faith in his God. He had the esteem and good will of all his neighbors.

When he passed away there remained to mourn his going, his wife and companion, his son, Shirley, at home; Claude Dale of New Virginia, Mont.; Mrs. Ollie Black of Indianola, Ia.; and Mrs. Eva Hazelton of Grinnell, Ia.; and seven grandchildren. Interment was made at Grinnell, Ia., on Dec. 8. Services were held in the Orient church, his pastor, Rev. A. J. Matthews officiating.
