JOSIE ASBERRY PERKINS

Josie Asberry Perkins, 56, Monticello, Ky., formerly of Grinnell, died Feb. 22 at Humana Hospital-Lake Cumberland, Somerset, Ky. of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Feb. 26 at Hoyt G. Hickey Funeral Home in Monticello with burial in Elk Spring Cemetery there. Pall bearers were Paul Asberry, Rodney Geist, Kenneth Criswell, Richard Criswell, Terry Criswell and Jimmy Perkins Jr.

She was born Sept. 13, 1935, in Wayne county, Ky., to Gilbert and Cecil Criswell and attended schools in Monticllo. She was married to William D. Asberry in 1953 in New Castle, Ind., and resided in Grinnell until 1973 when she returned to Kentucky. On Jan. 1, 1982, she was married to Jimmie Perkins in Monticello. She was a homemaker and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband Jimmie Perkins, Monticello; four sons William O. Asberry, Gainesville, N.Y.; Dwight D. Asberry, Grinnell, Lonnie Asberry, Kellogg, and Jimmie Asberry, Monticello, Ky.; two daughters Linda Bever, Hutchinson, Kan., and Cheryl Lingenfelter, Turon, Kan.; her father Gilbert Criswell, Monticello; two sisters Ollie Campbell, Hopkinsville, Ky., and Brenda Sue Upchurch, Monticello; three brothers, Dillard Criswell and Bobby Criswell, Monticello, and Dewey Criswell, Louisville, Ky., and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband William O. Asberry, and her mother Cecil Criswell.
