OBITUARY

AUGUSTUS ALLEN ROBY

Augustus was born on Nov. 7, 1872, the son of Christopher and Ann Pearson Roby, at Lebanon, Iowa.

He was married to California S. Pettit and to this union were born three children all surviving: Mrs. John (Velma) James, Grinnell; William Roby, Anaheim, Calif.; and Letha Roby, Fullerton, Calif.

He had lived in Grinnell about 10 years, having moved to Iowa from Ohio where he farmed in early life. He had been employed by the cities of Marshalltown and Grinnell. Recently, he had worked for Grinell College and had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. John James.

Surviving him are all three children, five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Alva Hunt of Pulaski, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. He was a member of the Little Mount Baptist church.

Services for Augustus Roby were held at the Little Mount Baptist church at 2:00 p.m. Sept. 13, with the Rev. Lloyd R. Smith officiating. Music was furnished by Julia Farmer and Mrs. J. Lester Williams.

Pallbearers were Burson Farmer, Don Farmer, Lewis Farmer, Paul Gass, Warren James and Danny Smith. Burial was in the Little Mount Baptist Cemetery.
