The Grinnell Herald; March 31, 1903

OBITUARY.

John F. Wright died at his home on East St., Grinnell, on Saturday last, after a decline of five years and at the age of 84. He was born near Lowell in Massachusetts in 1818. He resided in Lowell or the vicinity until 1890, when he removed to Grinnell to make his home with his daughter (his only living child) Mrs. *Robie. He was a mechanic, a diligent man of business, esteemed in the community, and radically upright and manly.

He belonged to a long-lived family, his sister having died last year at the age of 95.

He came here to enjoy a rest in his later years, made few acquaintances, remained quietly at home, happy in the care of his garden, in the society of his family, and in the cordial friendship of his neighbors. He was a useful citizen, honored wherever known.

His daughter and his wife (with the latter of whom he had lived more than sixty-one years) survive him. The remains have been expressed to Lowell to rest in the family lot there. The wife and daughter left yesterday morning to attend the burial.

Transcriber Note: *Roby
