RITES TODAY FOR MRS. RIX

Katherine (Tena) Rix, 88, of 1514 Elm St., died Thursday evening, Aug. 6, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marcus Reitz of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Rev. Arnold Thalacker of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Oran, Iowa, officiating. Music will be provided by Kathleen Heffner, organist, and Gordon Van Donselaar, vocalist.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Austin, Lavern Edgeton, Merle Lamb, Wilford Mikel, Harry Ryan and Jack Templeton. Flower bearers will be Marie Austin, Irene Edgeton and Tena Hillman. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Henry and Mathilda Ahler Frahm, she was born Aug. 3, 1893, in Sheridan Township. She attended Poweshiek County schools and later attended the Lutheran Ladies Seminary at Red Wing, Minn.

She was married to Frank Rix on Feb. 18, 1920, in Grinnell. The couple moved to a farm in Sheridan Township where they lived until 1954. Following their retirement, they moved to Grinnell. Mrs. Rix was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her son, Earl Rix of Harmans, Md.; three grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and a brother, Henry Frahm. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
