EARL H. RIX

Earl H. Rix, 89, of Hanover, Md., formerly of Grinnell, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, at his home.

Private family interment was held Monday, Dec. 12, 2010, at Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to John Hopkins Coronary Care Unit, 600 N. Wolfe St., Baltimore, Md., 21287, or to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn.

He was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Grinnell, the son of John and Kathryn Frahm Rix. He was raised in Grinnell, graduating from Grinnell High School, then earning a degree in engineering from Iowa State University in Ames.

On Dec. 26, 1943, he was united in marriage with Marilyn Beatrice Miller. They resided in West Virginia and Maryland where he was employed by the Westinghouse Corporation as chief electrical engineer.

He is survived by one son Dr. Robert Rix of Upper Marlboro, Md.; one daughter, Kathy Cruppenink of Hanover, Md.; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son Edward Rix.
