Large Companies Gather Here and At Lutheran Church in Tama County

------------

Two large crowds of relatives, neighbors, and friends gathered on Tuesday afternoon at the Frahm home on Elm street and at the Tama county Lutheran Church to pay their last tribute to the beloved and respected Mr. Henry Frahm who passed from this earthly existence on Sunday morning at about 7:45 o'clock.

Then pastor Henry Schiffler, pastor of the Tama church, which Mr. Frahm helped build, and to which he belonged until he came to Grinnell fifteen years ago, spoke in German to the bereaved, pointing out what gives comfort to a Christian in his dying hour, showing the need for comfort, the nature of satisfying comfort, and the basis for that comfort. A quarette composed of Mrs. Marjory Bouma, Mrs. Frank Porter, Mr. Fred Ohl, and Mr. Charles Loveland, rendered three songs in exquisite manner, with true feeling and sympathy, "Sometime You'll Understand," "O How Blessed Are Ye Whose Toils Are Ended," "Jerusalem, Thou City Fair and High."

Pallbearers were: John Hillman, Will Ahrens, Henry Ahrens, Fred Heinli, Herman Ewaldt, Henry Rix at Grinnell, and John Herman, Gust Backen, William Miller, Fred Timm, and Henry Schmidt at Tama.

Obituary is as follows: Henry Frahm was born of Christian parents, Henry and Katherine Frahm, July 14th, 1857 in the Province Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In infancy he was consecrated to the Triune God by baptism into the name of the Father, Son , and Holy Spirit. He received Christian training at home and a Christian education in school from his pastor. At the age of 15 he renewed his baptismal vow in Confirmation, pledging allegiance to the Lutheran Christian faith. To this faith he tenaciously clung, and by this faith was tempered his entire life up to the moment that God removed his soul from this temporal body to receive it into the eternal abode.

In the spring of 1871, together with his Aunt and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Frahm, he emigrated to this country, locating at Sheridan Township, where he lived all his life until March 22, 1916, when he moved to Grinnell. He was married to Miss Emma Schmidt March 16, 1886. However God chose to break into this union only two years after their marriage. Mrs. Frahm passed away on the 12th of Nov. 1888. But God had not intended that Mr. Frahm should spend his life alone, and gave him another helpmate who was to be his loving and faithful companion the remainder of his life. It was Miss Mathilda Ahlers, to whom he was joined in holy Wedlock Oct. 16, 1892. With her he established a model Christian home that was dominated constantly by Jesus Christ, the silent guest, a home that was always open to neighbors and friends. Together they lived and worked in matrimonial bliss on Mr. Frahm's farm. Two children were given them to grace and cheer their home, Katherine who is the present Mrs. Frank Rix, and Henry who occupies the parental homestead.

Besides his beloved and faithful wife, here remain to mourn the departure of this God-fearing man, the children, Mrs. Frank Rix and Henry Frahm, the grandchildren, Henrietta, Florence, and Mathilda Frahm, and Earl Rix, one Brother, Johannes Frahm, and a host of relatives and friends. He was one in a million, this husband, father, brother, neighbor--Mr. Henry Frahm.
