OBITUARY

VERA COOK VICTOR

Vera Cook was born in Grinnell, Iowa, on August 17, 1885. She was a daughter of George Fremont Cook and Lillian Lewis Cook. She was one of three children born to this union. She was laid to rest in Hazelwood cemetery, Grinnell, on June 16, 1956, beside her husband, her parents and her brother and sister.

Following the death of her mother, she lived for a number of years in the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Milligan, where she made friendships which were life long.

On December 10, 1904, she was married to John Victor from Chicago. Here their two sons were born, and she became active in church and civic life. She was a devoted mother, a kind neighbor and a loyal friend.

Following a long illness, she passed away at Phoenix, Ariz., on June 12, 1956. Funeral services were conducted there, as well as here, at the James Funeral Home, with the Reverend Donald Loots officiating at the memorial service here. Pallbearers were members of the I.O.O.F. lodge.

Relatives from out-of-town who attended the services were the two sons, Kenneth C. Victor and Dr. and Mrs. Donald H. Victor of Phoenix, Ariz.; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Stephan, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Martin Stephan, Jr., and their four children from Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Webster and their daughter, Mrs. Raymond Van Gorp, Mrs. Arie W. Hill and Mr. J.E. Bortell, all from Des Moines.

Mrs. Victor is survived by her two sons and their wives, seven grandchildren and numerous friends.
