BERNADINE K. MEYER

Bernadine Koening Meyer, 90, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Grinnell, died Sunday, Feb. 26, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law south of Riverside following a lengthy illness.

A funeral mass was held Tuesday, Feb. 28, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Interment took place at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Richmond. Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church, Hospice of Washington County or the Parkinson's Association.

She was born Feb. 14, 1916, in Washington County, the daughter of William F. and Antoinette Reiner Koening. She was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Washington Junior College in Washington. On Feb. 11, 1936, she was united in marriage with *Orval J. Meyer in Richmond, Iowa. She lived in Grinnell for nearly 20 years during which she worked at Grinnell College. She had resided for the past several years at Washington Care Center. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church where she was active in its Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of Catholic Foresters. She enjoyed playing cards, golf, music and song.

She is survived by six children Bill Meyer of Riverside, Kathleen Ordway of Rockford, Ill., Jane Goke of Eden Prairie, Minn., Lois Dalton of Warrenton, Va., Mary Trupiano of Battle Creek, Mich., and Mike Meyer of Waterloo; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and one sister Agnes Hochstetler of Kalona. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Elaine Kos, one grandson, three sisters and two brothers.
