OBITUARY

MRS. WENDELL LEWIS

Emma Margaret Steiner was born August 22, 1899 and passed away April 7, 1955. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Wendell Lewis who she married Sept. 15, 1935, two children by a former marriage, Sgt. Leland M. Searls and Marjorie Searls Huff both of Des Moines; her mother Mrs. Ella Miller of California, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Johnson of Grinnell; Mrs. Verna Perry of Kansas City, Kansas; Mrs. Evelyn Newkirk, Versailles, Mo.; one brother Samuel Steiner, Winthrop, Ark.; two half brothers Ed and Charles Steiner, California, Mo.; seven grandchildren, fourteen nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

When quite young she united with the Baptist church of California, Mo. and afterwards transferred to the United Presbyterian Church of Grinnell. Her Christianity was real to her. The Lord was the guide of her life.

She has fought a good fight, she has finished the course, she has kept the faith.

Funeral srvices were held Monday afternoon from the United Presbyterian church with Rev. E.E. Beattie officiating. Mrs. Gene Holley was organist and music was by a quartet, Mrs. M.O. Stanley, Mrs. M.L. Long, Martin Pearce and Gene Holley, and Jane Huff, soloist.

Pallbearers were John Peak, Lester Hill, John Peters, Gene Breiting, Glen Anderson and Cecil Myers, and the flower committee included Mrs. Herb Hutchison, Mrs. E.E. Beattie, and Jayne Skidmore.

Burial was in Hazelwood cemetery with James Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Out-of-town relatives attending funeral services for Mrs. Lewis were Mrs. Verna Perry, Kansas City, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Steiner, Winthrop, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Steiner, California, Mo.; N.H. Newkirk, Versailles, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. S.M. Haynes, Eldon, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anglen, Oswatomie, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Lee, Kansas City, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Steiner, Jamestown, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Fran Utterback, Des Moines, Iowa.

Friends from a distance attending the last rites were Miss Kay Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Caskey, and Mrs. Cara? Wessell of Des Moines.
