PHYLLIS ARTHUR

Phyllis W. Arthur, 90, of Grinnell died Monday, Feb. 4, at Friendship Manor Care Centre.

Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Jess and Eva Marion Walker, she was born Oct. 23, 1909, in rural Barnes City. She attended rural school and was a graduate of Grinnell High School.

She was married to Cyril L. Arthur April 7, 1930, in Montezuma. They farmed in the Oak Grove and Searsboro communities and moved to Grinnell in 1957. She was employed by DeLong Sportswear for many years, retiring in 1990. She had been a resident of Friendship Manor since 1993.

Surviving are three daughters, Marilyn Clark and Mary Garr, both of Grinnell, and Sharon Koger of Hudson; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Gayle Chedester; four sisters, Irene Meredith, Ada Walker and two in infancy; one brother, Harley Walker; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines.
