RITES SATURDAY FOR HOLLIE YORK

Hollie Fee York, 81, of 524 Park Street, Grinnell, died Wednesday evening at a local hospital following six months of illness.

He was born December 2, 1885, in Davis County, Iowa, the son of George Enoch and Sarah Knoblett York. He received his education in the local schools in Davis County.

On Nov. 27, 1926, at Bloomfield, Iowa, he married Mamie Morrow. The Yorks had three children, Melbern, who passed away at the age of two; Mrs. Vincent (Joanne) Keenan of Newton; and Melvin York of Grinnell. He is survived by two step-sons, Bernard Marvin of Montour and Roger Marvin of Tama, as well as 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Dolphus York, and a sister, Mrs. James Ware, both of Bloomfield, Iowa. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and other brothers and sisters.

York lived in Bloomfiedl before moving to Moulton, Iowa, where he operated a produce business. About 37 years ago, he moved to Grinnell with his family where he was employed with Swift and Company in the poultry department. Following his employment with Swifts, he was employed at Duffys Tavern for the last few years.

He was a member of the Frat. Order of Eagles.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Shireman, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery, Grinnell.
