--David Crane died March 23, 1901, at his home in Washington township, aged 56 years, 7 months and 5 days, after an illness of three months duration. David Crane was born in Lewisburg, Preble county, Ohio, August 18, 1844. He was united in marriage with Miss Jennie Brown of Louisa county, Iowa, in 1874. He enlisted as a private soldier in the civil war, and after three years service was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal. He lived a devoted christian life, loved by neighbors and friends. As his last sickness advanced he realized that his days were numbered, and bore all suffering with christian fortitude, expressing a desire to depart and be with Christ, and meet the loved ones gone before. The funeral service was held at the late home Monday at nine o'clock a.m., conducted by Rev. Robt. Lincoln assisted by Rev. F.I Poage. The burial was at Salem, Jasper county, beside the remains of his wife. The bereaved relatives wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to their neighbors for many acts of kindness and for assistance.
