MAMIE YORK RITES TODAY

Mrs. Mamie R. York, 74, of Grinnell, the widow of Hollie F. York, died Friday morning at Friendship Manor.

The daughter of Charles H. and Nora B. Smith Morrow, she was born July 2, 1898, in Moulton, Iowa. She attended public schools in Dean, Iowa, and later was married to Charles Marvin. The couple had two sons, Bernard L. Marvin Sr., who died in August, 1971, and Charles R. Marvin of Toledo.

On Nov. 27, 1926, she was married to Hollie Fee York in Bloomfield, Iowa, and the couple had three children, Mrs. Vincent (Nora Joanne) Keenan of Newton, and Melvin D. York of Grinnell, and Melburn York, who died at the age of 2.

Mr. and Mrs. York had made their home in Grinnell since 1930. Mrs. York had been associated with the Swift Company in Grinnell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Isabella Brande Guild, the GO Sunday School class, and the DUV.

Survivors include her three children, Charles, Joanne, and Melvin; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Beckman of Klamath River, Calif., and Helen Murillo of Napa, Calif.; and one brother, Ray Morrow of Joliet, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her two sons, Bernard and Melburn; two grandchildren, Bernard Keenan and Carroll Marvin; one great-grandchild; her parents; and two brothers, Austin Morrow, who died in October 1970, and a brother who died in infancy.

Funeral services for Mrs. York were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Monday) at the First Baptist Church in Grinnell, with the Rev. Hugh A. Shively, pastor of the church officiating. Organist was Edward Bohstedt, and vocalists were Mrs. Donovan Evans and Mrs. LaForest Sherman.

Pallbearers were Ray Allbee, Max Crawford Sr., Jerry Keenan, Maurice Keenan, Bernard Marvin Jr., Webb Wallace, and Clark Wilson.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
