THEODORE F. CRANE

Theodore F. Crane, was born Feb. 24th, 1844, at Madura, South India. A son of missionary parents he was brought by them to their native land the following year. His childhood was spent in Pennsylvania. In 1857 he removed with his father's family to the west, locating in Iowa. After a few months residence in Ill., with other student vounteers from Iowa College, he spent three months in the south during the Civil War.

On his return some years were spent in Pennsylvania, when he again came to Iowa. Later he graduated from the Law Department of Iowa State University and was for some years a member of the firm of Dungan & Crane at Chariton, Iowa. Since that time he has been a resident of Grinnell. His marriage to Narcissa B. Taylor occurred Oct. 8th, 1873 at Mulberry Grove, Ill.

Stricken with apoplexy on the morning of Thursday, August 9th,1906, he passed away Saturday evening, attended by his wife, son, and two daughters. Services will be held this afternoon at 2:30, from the family home, conducted by Elder L.F. Starr, of the Adventist church of Stuart. "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life."
