Tracey Tish Rites
Friday At NewtonFuneral services for Tracey M. Tish were conducted Friday at the Toland Funeral Home, Newton, with burial in the Newton Union Cemetery. His nephews served as casket bearers: William McGriff, William Callison, William Tish, Marion Tish, Lawrence Tish and Daryle Whalen.
Mr. Tish, 73, died April 11, in Los Angeles, Calif.
The son of William P. and Belle Alderman Tish, he was born on a farm south of Grinnell on March 30, 1895.
Mr. Tish grew up in the community south of Grinnell. On June 22nd, 1921, he was united in marriage to Miss Florence McGriff at Newton. They farmed in the Montezuma and Marshalltown communities for a number of years. in 1942, they moved to Denver, Colo., then to Portland, Ore., where he worked as a building contractor. Since 1955, he and his family have lived in the Los Angeles area. Mr. Tish was a veteran of World War I.
In addition to his wife, Florence, survivors include his two daughters: Mrs. James Bradley of Westminster, Calif., and Mrs. Helen Thies of Culver City, Calif., five grandsons: Robert, Jay and Greg Bradley; Michael and Danny Thies; his granddaughter, Marilyn Bradley, and one great-grandson, Garyn Thies. He is also survived by his brothers, Harry of Swea City, Iowa, and four sisters: Mrs. John Wolfe, Fremont; Mrs. A. H. Wilsterman, Grinnell, Mrs. Wayne Thompson, Portland; and Mrs. Ray Smith of Chicago.
