A GOOD MAN PASSES

Andrew Eisele was born Oct. 11th 1830 in Kencinger Baden, Germany. He left his native home Dec. 17, 1851 and came to America and landed in Philadelphia, Feb'y 17, 1852, and from there he went to Bucks county the same state, where he lived until Nov. 1856, and on the 29th day of Nov. the same year he was married to Phillippia Wentzl, and the same year, Dec. 25, he left Pennsylvania and moved to Bureau county, Ill. and left Bureau county in November 1868, and came to Poweshiek county where he settled on the farm and where he resided at the time of his death. To him and his worthy wife were born seven children--four boys and three girls--the eldest, Joseph, was born in 1857, and the youngest, John, in 1869. They are all still living and were present at the funeral. The deceased was 65 years, 9 months and 20 days old.

The funeral took place at the Presbyterian church last Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was the largest ever held in this place. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.S. Kight, assisted by Rev. D.C. Bevan, and were excellent and very impressive.

The floral offerings were very beautiful and numerous beyond description. Among the many were a pillow of white roses with the word "Father" inscribed by the children; a cross of daisies, roses, lillies and sweet peas, by Mrs. E.P. Raymond; the "three links" in roses, by the Odd Fellows.

Uncle Andrew, as he was familiarly called, was an excellent man, loved and respected by his neighbors and friends, and all who knew him. He was honest and strong in his convictions, kind hearted, generous, and industrious. Kind, lovable, charitable and was never known to turn his back (unreadable) person when in need--in fact too much so for his own good. Thus the community loses one of its most valued friends and citizens. The deceased was laid to rest in Malcom cemetery, followed by a large number of sympathizing friends. To the bereaved wife and children are extended the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.

The pall bearers were, Julius Weber, Wm. Dostal, August Lidtka, P.J. Hansen, Fred Schultz and Carl Schultz.

The bereaved wife and children desire us to thank the neighbors and friends for the many deeds of kindness during their sorrow and trouble.

IN MEMORIUM.

The following resolutions were adopted by Malcom lodge No.369, I.O.O.F.:

Whereas, it has pleased the Supreme Creator and Preserver of the Universe to call from our midst one of our members, Bro. Andrew Eisele, who died at his home on the 31st day of July, 1896, Therefore be it

Resolved, that by the death of Bro. Andrew Eisele the lodge has lost a good and faithful member, who, all through his 38 years of lodge membership, has exemplified in his daily life the principles of our order, Friendship, Love and Truth: the community an enterprising and respected citizen, and the family a kind and loving husband and father.

Reseloved, that as a mark of respect to the memory of the departed brother, our lodge room be draped in mourning for 30 days.

Resolved, that these resolutions be spread on the records of the lodge and published in the Malcom TIMES-LEADER, and a copy sent to the family of the deceased brother.
