OBITUARY.

GUST J. SCHULTZ

Malcom Leader: Gust J. Schultz was born in Bureau county, Illinois, July 22, 1858, and died near Tama, Iowa, April 29, 1915, aged 56 years 9 months and 29 days.

He was the son of Henry and Mary Schultz, and came to Iowa, with his parents in the spring of 1859, locating in Sheridan township, where he grew to manhood.

On October 26, 1880, he was united in marriage to Mary Eisele of Malcom, and located on a farm in Sheridan township, where they resided until six years ago, when they moved to their home in Malcom, where they have since lived.

To Mr. and Mrs. Schultz was born one son, Frank, who now resides on the home place in Sheridan township.

Mr. Schultz was baptized in infancy, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the year 1875.

He leaves besides his wife, son and daughter-in-law, one granddaughter, four brothers and three sisters, as follows: Chris C. of Grinnell, John F. of Marshalltown, Otto and Henry of Sheridan, Mrs. Andrew Erickson of Brooklyn, Mrs. J.F. Eisele and Mrs. Henry Baltisberger, of Malcom.

About three years ago, Mr. Schultz purchased the meat market of B.P. Meigs, and has conducted the same in addition to his other business interests, since that time. He was a quiet, conscientious man, ever ready to assist in any worthy enterprise and took an interest in all public improvements and things generally for the betterment of the community, and in his demise this vicinity has lost one of our best citizens.

The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. G.S. Baskervill and the Rev. W.A. Smith, assisted by the Rev. O.E. McBride of the Sheridan M.E. church. The attendance was perhaps the largest of any funeral ever held here. Interment was made at Ivy Hill cemetery, under the auspices of Grinnell lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, of which the deceased was a member.

The pallbearers were the four brothers: Chris, John, Otto and Henry, and Joseph and Charles Eisele.
