MRS. MONTGOMERY OF BROOKLYN DIES

(From The Brooklyn Chronicle)

Mary Jane Montgomery, daughter of William B. and Mary Ann Crawford, was born near Brooklyn, April 14, 1869. She was one of a family of five children: Ella Rogers, John Crawford, Olive Kensinger, all of whom have preceded her in death; and W.W. Crawford, who lives on a farm in Madison township.

She grew to womanhood in this community, attending school in and near Brooklyn. Early in life, upon profession of faith, she united with the Madison Methodist church, which was near their home.

On March 6, 1889, she was united in marriage with James Montgomery of Brooklyn. Ten children were born to them, all of whom are living. They are: Mrs. Cora Richman, William J., Lynn, Agnes, Quintin, and Edwin of Brooklyn, Forrest of Tipton, Mrs. Eva Reynolds of Ft. Collins, Colo., Mrs. Eunice Cram of Chelsea, and Mrs. Nina Edelen of Cedar Rapids.

Most of her married life was spent on a farm near Brooklyn. They moved to Brooklyn in 1919, coming to the present home in 1920.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m., from the home.

Pallbearers were the following nephews: Elmer Spence and Julius Harrison of Cedar Rapids; Will Crawford of Gilman; and Hugh, Raymond, and Alva Montgomery, all of Brooklyn.

Interment was at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Brooklyn.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Elmer Rogers and Rose McIlrath, Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Edd Harrison and John Spence, Aurora, Ill.; Kenneth Davidson, Emmetsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Spence, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Harrison, Anna Calderwood and Etta Hughes, Cedar Rapids; Rev. and Mrs. John Caskey and Walter Crawford, Montour; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Atwater, Marion, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Will Crawford, Gilman; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cram, Chelsea, and Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Cullison, Deep River.
