MRS. HASSELBRINK RITES MONDAY

Elsie E. Hasselbrink, 86, of Grinnell died Thursday, April 18, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert C. Smith, pastor of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, officiating. Organist was Joan Mason, and vocalist was Verle Kooistra. Pallbearers were Karry Bryan, Kelly Bryan, Larry Esk, Brent Hasselbrink, Mike Hasselbrink, Rick Hasselbrink and Donald Wade.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials in Mrs. Hasselbrink's name may be sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home.

The daughter of August and Fredricka Saak Henning, she was born on Feb. 14, 1899, near Newton. She attended Newton schools. On Oct. 18, 1916 she was married to William H. Hasselbrink, at Newton. The couple farmed in Jasper County until 1966 when they moved to Grinnell. Mrs. Hasselbrink was a member of the Bethel Grange.

She is survived by her children, Virginia Pratt of Clarion, Donald C. of Newton, Edward A. of Woodbridge, N.J., Richard W. of Grinnell, Doris A. Bryan of Lynnville and Wayne H. of Grinnell; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ted Henning of Colfax. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, June E. Hasselbrink; six brothers and two sisters.
