WILLIAM JACK

William Lowell Jack, 63, of Grinnell died Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael D. Smith, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Kathy Lynch.

Pallbearers were Mervin, Denny, Brian, Danny, Mandy and Brent Jack, Troy Honeycutt and Scott Stowell. Honorary bearers were Jim Buffum, Verl Garwood, Arthur Grosenbach, Wesley Meyer, Les Ocheltree, Kenneth Paul, Duane Phelps, Dennis Puls, Shirl Puls and Everett Refer.

Burial was in Victor Memorial Cemetery.

The son of George and Naomi Grier Jack, he was born Nov. 1, 1927, near Deep River. He attended Guernsey schools and graduated from Victor High School in 1945. While in high school he received All State honors in basketball.

He attended electrical school in Chicago and later established the Jack Electric Service. He also farmed near Belle Plaine and Victor.

In 1972 he moved to Grinnell and worked as a maintenance supervisor and facilities coordinator for Miracle Recreation Equipment Co.

He was married to Ellen Schultz May 17, 1975, in Guthrie Center. The couple lived in Grinnell.

Mr. Jack was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hermon Masonic Lodge, Kaaba Shrine of Davenport, Holly Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the Eagles Lodge and the Elks Lodge.

Surviving are his wife; six sons, Terry and Lonnie, both of Victor, Randy of Grinnell, Robert of Long Beach, Calif., Jeffrey of Santa Monica, Calif., and Douglas of Grinnell; three daughters, Dana Jack of Victor, Diane Stowell of Victor and Cindy Wyatt of Wichita Falls, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and three brothers, Burdette and Melvin, both of Victor, and Stan of River Falls, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
