MRS. WISECARVER DIES AT HOME

Bernice Wisecarver, 66, wife of Alfred Wisecarver of 931 Summer St., died Sunday morning at the home.

The daughter of Fred and Mattie Ewart Rayburn, Mrs. Wisecarver was born on Dec. 1, 1904, at Ewart. She received her education in the rural schools of this community and was a graduate of the Oskaloosa high school. She attended Grinnell College for one year then completed her education at the William Penn college in Oskaloosa. For a number of years she taught in the Fort Madison schools.

On Feb. 18, 1944 she was married to Alfred Wisecarver at Marshalltown. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Marshalltown for seven years and then farmed in the Ewart community. Since 1956 they have lived in Grinnell.

Mrs. Wisecarver attended the Methodist church and was a member of the church Guild. She was also a member of the DAR, Eastern Star, DAC and the Razelle Club.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred; a sister-in-law, Pearl Rayburn of Oskaloosa; a niece, Mrs. Karen Goldizen of Tulsa, Okla.; two great nieces and her cousins.

Mrs. Wisecarver was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Ted Walcott; and a brother Lester Rayburn.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wisecarver will be Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home.

The Rev. J. Eugene Young will officiate. Organist will be Mrs. Kathleen Heffner, and the pallbearers will be J. Sheldon Copeland, Merland Pfantz, Max Chedester, Charles Burnham, Oval Black and Lloyd Larsen.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
