TRIBUTE FOR MRS. HALL

Funeral of Much Loved Woman Is Held in Montezuma on Wednesday

MANY FRIENDS FROM GRINNELL ARE PRESENT

Mrs. C.K. Needham, of This City, Pays a Beautiful Tribute to Her Friend.

----------------------

A number of Grinnell people were preesant on Wednesday at the funeral services for Mrs. John Hall, held at the home of her mother, Mrs. A.F. Rayburn, in Montezuma. Mrs. Hall died late Monday evening in Cedar Rapids. Her invincible cheerfulness and her many fine qualities had greatly endeared her to a wide circle of friends here. The service was in charge of Rev. Mr. Cadwell, pastor of the Methodist church of Montezuma, who spoke ably and fittingly. A quartet composed of personal friends sang. Mrs. C. (missing....)

Lulu Rayburn Hall was born in Montezuma, Iowa, August 2?, 1869. Here she grew to young womanhood, graduating from the high school and later studying music for a time at the Conservatory of Music at Grinnell.

She passed away at her home in Cedar Rapids, Monday evening between six and seven o'clock, after an illness of a few weeks. She leaves her husband, her mother, Mrs. A.F. Rayburn and one brother, Hon. E.D. Rayburn, of Montezuma.

Mr. and Mrs. Hall were married in Montezuma in September 1891. For many years they lived in Montezuma where Mr. Hall was connected with the First National Bank. In the year 1907, they came to Grinnell to live in their beautiful home on High St. which they told a short time ago. Since coming to Grinnell, until a few months ago, Mr. Hall had not engaged in active business of any kind and he and Mrs. Hall traveled extensively--spending a part of the year, for many years in the west where they had mining interests, and on the Pacific coast. They enjoyed going from place to place and had planned to spend the coming winter in Honolulu if condidtions would permit.

A short time ago Mr. Hall bought the controlling interest in the Indian Petroleum Company, with offices at Cedar Rapids. His personal attention was required for a time and he and Mrs. Hall for the past few months have lived in that city. They were often in Grinnell, however, retaining their places in lodge, club and social circles and stoutly denying any intention of ever making any place, other than Grinnell, their permanent home.

Mrs. Hall loved Grinnell. She was ever singing the praises of her home town and ever resented the slightest knock. She was loyal by nature. Loyal to her town and her friends, and ever a most loyal and devoted wife and daughter.
