ALFRED TISH RITES HELD TUESDAY

Services for Alfred Tish were conducted by the Rev. James T. Ross Tuesday afternoon, July 19, at the Watts Funeral Home. Music was provided by Ruth Ross and Jon Ross. Casket bearers were Kevin Tish, Maynard Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Alan Farrington, Scott Farrington and Tom Dawson. Burial was in West Liberty Cemetery.

Mr. Tish, 76, died Saturday, July 16, at his home west of Montezuma.

The son of John and Selah Reeves Tish, he was born April 11, 1907, near Searsboro. He was married to Dena Van Hoever at Montezuma Oct. 20, 1927. They were the parents of 2 daughters and a son. They also had 4 foster children living with them. Mr. Tish farmed and worked for the county. He also ran a bulldozer business and was employed by Cargill before retiring in 1972.

He is survived by his wife, 3 children and their spouses, Colleen and Max LaVerne Johnson of Milan, Ill., Norma Jean and James Farrington of Montezuma and Earl and Marilyn Tish of Newton; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 foster-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Floyd of Gibson, Kenneth of Brooklyn, Clayton of Deep River; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Cecil Snider of Ottumwa, Mrs. Eva Snook and Mrs. Elmer (Gladys) Burgraaf, both of Deep River.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-granddaughter, 3 brothers, Chester, Warren and Clair Tish, and a sister, Sylvia Thompson.
