DENA TISH

The funeral of Dena Tish, 81, of Montezuma was April 13 at Watts Funeral Home. Bill Ell of West Liberty Church of Christ officiated and burial was in West Liberty Cemetery. Mrs. Tish died April 9 at Grinnell General Hospital.

Kevin Tish, Max Reynolds, Michael Versteegh, David Pearce, David Farrington and Scott Farrington were casket bearers. Music was recorded selections by granddaughters of Mrs. Tish.

She was born Feb. 2, 1909, in Mahaska County and was the daughter of William and Tillie Swank Crowder Van Hoever. On Oct. 20, 1927, she married Alfred Tish in Montezuma and they lived here most of their lives. For several years she detassled and sorted corn for Cargill Seed Company. She was a member of West Liberty Church of Christ.

Mrs. Tish is survived by a daughter and her husband, Norma Jean and James Farrington of Montezuma; a son and his wife, Earl and Marilyn Tish of Newton; four foster children; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Joe Van Hoever.

Preceding her in death in additon to her parents were her husband on July 16, 1983; a daughter, Colleen Johnson on Sept. 25, 1987; two great-grandchildren, Tina Dawson and Maynard Johnson II; a brother, Jacob Van Hoever; a sister, Jeanette Allen; and a half brother, Tracy Crowder.

Memorials may be made to her church.
