FUNERAL SERVICES HELD TODAY FOR LENA MITHELMAN

Mrs. Lena Mithelman, 83, of Grinnell, died Saturday morning at a local hospital following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) from the Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. John Panukuk officiating. Vocal music was provided by Mrs. Wayne Dayton, accompanied by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner at the organ.

Serving on the flower committee were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Plum, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dillon and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad DeBondt. Pallbearers were Cliff Van Wyngarden, Carl Beevar, Earl Lidtka, Marvel Young, Larry Mithelman and Jerry Holcomb. Ushers were Grover Loftin and Clare Gross.

A prayer service at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home preceded the funeral service. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran cemetery.

The daughter of Lawrence and Ricka Schultz Lidtka, she was born August 16, 1882, near Malcom. She attended the rural schools in the Sheridan community and in 1896 was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and also a member of the Women of the Church for 60 years, and also served as church organist for many years and taught Sunday School.

On December 2, 1913, she was united in marriage with Fred J. Mithelman at the J.C. Deedrick home in Malcom. Following their marriage they farmed in the Grinnell and Malcom communities until 1944 when they retired and moved to Grinnell.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Gail (Elsie) Young of Grinnell; her two sons, LeRoy and Claire, both of Grinnell; seven grandchildren: two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. J.C. (Mary) Deedrick of Malcom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. on November 11, 1964; her parents; and three brothers, Louis, Joe and Fred Lidtka.
