ELSIE PALMER

Elsie Palmer, 78, of Grinnell died Saturday, April 9, at the Urbandale Health Care Center.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronald Mohr, pastor of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church of Urbandale, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler.

Pallbearers were Michael Arthur, Randy Arthur, Doug Baber, Jeremy Fister, Robert Palmer, Steve Palmer and John Risse. Honorary bearers were Norris Bigbee, Bill Campbell, Georege Fowler, Loring Rohr and Don Sowerwine.

Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery.

The daughter of Jens C. and *Mary Larson Schult Anderson, she was born May 14, 1915, in Iowa City. She was raised in Kellogg and graduated from Kellogg High School.

She was married to Norval Palmer, and the couple lived in Grinnell where she worked as a sales clerk for Ritter's Hardware Store, Gibson's Discount Center and Graham's Department Store. She retired in 1977.

Surviving are two sons, Robert of Urbandale and Duane of Carrollton, Texas; one daughter, Elaine Baber of Hartford; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Michael; one daughter, Penelope Fogelson; and two great-grandsons.

Memorials may be made to the Iowa Heart Association.
