JOEL STEWART ENERSON

Joel Stewart Enerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Enerson, was born in Sioux county, Ia., Jan. 10, 1895, and died July 29, 1915, at the age of 20 years, 6 months, and 29 days.

While he was yet a boy of eight his mother died and a year later the father moved with the family to a farm seven and a half miles southeast of Grinnell, where the remainder of Stewart's boyhood was passed. All his life was spent on the farm and in farm work, for which he was peculiarly fitted by nature, having a body of heroic proportions, and great power of physical endurance.

On the ninth of last May he received a serious injury in a motorcycle accident, since which he had been able to do but litle work. His recovery from this, however, was about complete when death came to him with such tragic suddenness last Thursday evening. He was called away in the zenith of his powers. His was a life of rugged honor and simplicity.

Those of the immediate family who remain are the father, Christian Enerson, a sister, Mrs. Louis *Buchnau, and a brother, Andrew, all of whom reside in this vicinity.

The funeral, conducted by Rev. W.B. Wilson, was held at the Norwegian Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, and the body buried in Hazelwood cemetery.

Transcriber Note: *Buchnau also spelled Buchenau
