MRS. DANIEL EDGINGTON

Kisiah Igou was born in Huntington county, Pennsylvania, on January 6, 1834, and died at her home in Madison township, on March 22, 1909, aged 75 years, 2 months and 5 days.

The first twelve years of her life were spent in her native state, but in 1846, she came with her parents to Knox county, Ohio, where on November 6, 1850, she was joined in marriage to Daniel Edgington, also a native of the Quaker state. To them were born eight children, six sons and two daughters: William D., of Peoria, Ill.; Albert D., of Marshalltown; Alonzo J., of Madison township; Thomas M., of Greeley, Colo.; Mrs. Mary I. McConnell and Mrs. Eva Reams of Madison township; Daniel R., and George, of Grinnell township. These with twenty-six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive to mourn the loss of this good woman. Her husband passed on to the Better Land, December 29, 1891, an old and highly respected citizen of Madison township.

Mr. and Mrs. Edgington first came to Iowa in the neighborhood of Independence and lived there for a time. Then they went to Kansas, but returned to Scott county in this state and finally came to Poweshiek county in February, 1867, and settled on the farm in Madison township in May of that year.

Mrs. Edgington united with the Methodist church at the age of eighteen years and was a lifelong faithful Christian woman, a devoted mother and a good neighbor.

All of the children but one, Thomas, who lives in Colorado, were present at the funeral services, which were conducted at the Madison M.E. church on March 24, by Rev. A. McBlain, her pastor, and Dr. I.N. Busby, who was formerly for eight years her pastor and for forty years her physician. Her remains were laid tenderly to rest beside those of her husband in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Brooklyn.
