SADIE M. JENSEN

Sadie M. Jensen, 92, of Wheat Ridge, Colo., formerly of Grinnell, died Friday, Feb. 13, at her home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Eulogist was Jean Arnold, and organist was Margaret Wheeler.

Pallbearers were Wayne Gropper, Edwin Jensen, Raymond Larson, Lester Osborn, Frank Wheeler and Harold Wheeler. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Clifton and Katie Wurster Wheeler, she was born Jan. 5, 1906, in Hale, Mo. She lived in Erie, Kan., for several years prior to moving to a farm near Malcom in 1918. She was a graduate of Malcom High School and attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa.

She was married to Harvey W. Jensen, Dec. 22, 1928, in Malcom. They farmed in the Grinnell area prior to moving to Grinnell in 1964. They moved to Redmond, Wash., in 1992, and following the death of her husband later that year, Mrs. Jensen moved to Lakewood, Colo.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, the Pythian Sisters and the Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by three daughters, Jewell Phipps and Joyce Starnes, both of Lakewood, and Orene White of Redmond; one sister, Lona Bangham of Grinnell; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Gail Wheeler; and one sister, Floy Rohlfing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church.
