FUNERAL SERVICES ON FRIDAY FOR EDNA E. HANSSEN

Mrs. Edna Esther Hanssen, 64, wife of Arthur Hanssen of Rte. 3, Grinnell, died Tuesday morning at a local hospital following five weeks of hospitalization.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Trinity Lutheran church with the pastor, the Rev. John Pannkuk, officiating. Vocal music will be provided by Mrs. Gene Gritch and Miss Kathy Plum, accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Plum at the organ.

On the flower committee will be Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Schultz and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rehberg. Pallbearers will be Charles Dillon, Vaughn Story, Ivan Allgood, Virgil Broders, John Puls Jr., and Richard Wichman. Ushers will be Donald Ahrens and Mike Loftin.

A prayer service for relatives will be held preceding the service at 1:30 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery.

The daughter of Abe and Elizabeth Jensen, she was born in Chicago, Ill., on February 5th, 1901. When just a baby, she came with her parents and family to a farm southeast of Grinnell. She attended the rural schools of this area and graduated from Grinnell high school.

On February 14th, 1923, she was united in marriage with Arthur Hanssen at the family home southeast of Grinnell by the Rev. Biermand of the Trinity Lutheran church. They moved to a farm northeast of Grinnell where they resided until her death.

To this union were born two sons, Raymond of the family home, and Kenneth, who farms with his father.

She was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran church where she was a member. She was also a member of the Women of the Church and the L.G.T. Club.

In addition to her husband and two sons, she is survived by three grandsons, Stephen, Randy and Michael; her daughter-in-law, Shirley; one sister, Alta Schneekloth of Marengo; one brother, Harvey Jensen of Grinnell; and other relatives and friends.
