JOHN E. ERVIN

John Earl Ervin, 83, died Tuesday, March 27, at St. Francis Manor, where he had lived for the past 1 1/2 years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Duley Funeral Home in Centerville, with the Rev James McMorrow officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati, Iowa.

Visitation with the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Duley Funeral Home, where friends may call beginning at 9 a.m. Friday.

The son of Benjamin and Rose Cline Ervin, he was born Sept. 20, 1906, at Cincinnati. He was a farmer and worked as a coal miner at Cincinnati for several years. He also lived in Montezuma and Malcom.

He was married to Edna Foran of Cincinnati in 1930.

Surviving are six children, Geraldine Bond, Nyta Lemke, Eleanor Davis and Mary Ervin, all of Malcom, Richard of Tama and Arthur of Malcom; two stepchildren, George Wilson and Betty Hannigan, both of Grinnell; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Earl; five brothers and three sisters.
