THOMAS I. SMITH

Thomas I. Smith, 95, of Rose Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Victor, died July 5, 1988 at Rose Haven Nursing Home.

He was the son of George and Sarah Amy Evans Smith and was born on April 23, 1893 at Centerview, Mo.

On August 23, 1914 he was married to Lois E. Scott, at Versailles, Mo. The couple farmed near Ladora and Marengo until 1928 when they moved to Victor. Mr. Smith was a self-employed trucker and was a member of the Ladora United Methodist Church and the former I.O.O.F. Lodge of Victor. Following the death of his first wife, he was married to Lucy Andes Smith on May 30, 1970 at Ladora.

He is survived by five step-sons, Kenneth Smith of Blairstown; Gerald Smith of Fort Worth, Tex.; Wallace Smith of Marengo; Donald Smith of Bloomington, Ind.; and Gary Smith of Moline, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, six sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services were July 8 at the McAninch-Fremming Funeral Home in Victor with Rev. Robert Barrick, pastor of the Ladora Methodist Church, officiating. Casket bearers were George Kubu of Ladora, Harold Nail of Ladora, Harold Tanner of Ladora, Jerry Tanner of Ladora, and Gary Tanner of Victor. Burial was in the Ohio Cemetery near Ladora.
