DEATH OF CORA PERRY HUMBERT

In the death of Cora Perry Humbert, August 26, there departed this life a woman who, before sickness had weakened her body, was a well-spring of joy to her companions, a delight in her home and an inspiration to all who met her. A native of Grinnall all those who knew her in her earlier life loved and admired her. She graduated from Grinnell college with the class of '92 and is the third of that large class to pass to the great beyond.

Ever popular with classmates she graduated among the foremost in the class. After graduation she became a teacher in the schools at LeMars and here on August 26, 1886, she was united in marriage with J.D. Humbert, a popular young business man of that place. They removed to Armour, S.D., where Mr. Humbert served as county superintendent, and about thirteen years ago they removed to Grinnell. During all her later life here she has been an invalid, and for ten years of that time has been unable to walk.

Everything that medical aid could do was done to relieve her, but without success. Her descent into the valley was gradual, and after those long years of weakness, though without pain, the end came. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Humbert, of whom but one is living.

The funeral occurred Saturday, the 28th, at the house, conducted by Rev. P.A. Dungan. Burial was at Hazelwood.
