ISLA TALBOTT SERVICES HELD

Isla Dorothy Talbott, 73, of 728 Summer St., died early Sunday, June 3, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist was Alice Renaud, and pallbearers were Dennis Elhard, Eldred Gause, Jerome Miller, Willis Miller, Frank Spooner and Gean Tiedemann. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Walter and Lillian Smith Anderson, she was born July 12, 1910, at Tama. She attended rural schools near Chelsea and also attended Tama High School.

She was employed briefly by the former J.H. Neal Company in Tama. On Sept. 8, 1932, she was married to Asa Clayton Talbott at Rock Island, Ill., and the couple then made their home in Grinnell. She was a nurse's aide at the former Talbott Nursing homes in Grinnell. During fall seasons, she worked at the Grinnell Canning Co. and Cargill Seed Co.

She is survived by her children, James E. Talbott of Grinnell; Modesta Beason of LaRussell, Mo., and Mary J. Trease of Grinnell; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lester Anderson of Belle Plaine and Glenn Anderson of Tama.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Ralph, Earl, James and George Anderson and two in infancy; and one sister, Nellie Hoopengardener.
