DIED.

JESSUP.--At Oak Grove, Sept. 5th, 1877, Cynthia Jessup, wife of Jesse B. Jessup, aged 47 years and 29 days.

She was born in Henry County, Indiana. Her disease was ovarian tumor of over nine years standing. She was a member of the Society of Friends. She was a constant attendant as long as health permitted, and when no longer able to be present at public service was ever ready to give a word of encouragement to those around her. About a month ago she said there was not a cloud in view; that she had perfect confidence in Christ, her Redeemer. When the surgeon came, he told her he thought it very doubtful about her recovery, but she was anxious to have an operation performed as it was her only hope of living. In the morning she took each one by the hand, told them of her Saviour and bade them a kind farewell. She also gave directions about her burial. The operation was commenced at ten in the morning and lasted two hours. She ate some supper and quietly passed away at eight in the evening. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.
