FUNERAL SERVICES HERE FRIDAY FOR MARION RICE, 73

Marion Rice, age 73, formerly of the Grinnell area, and a resident of the Mt. Pleasant State Hospital since 1916, passed away there Tuesday evening.

He was the son of Robert and Melda Parmley Rice and was born near Kellogg on July 26, 1890. He attended the rural schools in Grant Township and farmed southeast of Grinnell.

He is survived by two brothers: Mr. Cleve Rice and Mr. C.C. Rice, both of Des Moines, and was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and a sister, Sheridan Rice and Mrs. Joseph (Nina) Badger.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Lavern Streich, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, officiating. Burial will be made in Hazelwood cemetery. Organist will be Mrs. Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers will be Robert Hamilton, Hugo Hasselbrink, Louis Hasselbrink, John Hotchkin, Don Morrison and Charles Vogel.
