LEE STARR OF LYNNVILLE IS CALLED BY DEATH

Lynnville, Ia., August 6. Special:

Lee Starr, son of Benson and Ellen Starr, was born near Searsboro, Iowa, April 30, 1872, and died suddenly July 27, 1935, at the home of Robert Stufflebeam, Lynnville, Iowa, his near neighbor, where he had been tenderly cared for during his most recent illness. He was 63 years, two months and 27 days of age.

When eight years old he moved with his parents to the Starr farm south of Lynnville. In 1894 he moved to Villisca, Iowa, living there nine years, then moving to Council Bluffs, where he spent his married life. In 1932 he came to Lynnville to care for his aged father, after whose death he tenderly cared for his aged mother, and brother until after their passing, in 1932.

Lee was a real friend and neighbor, unselfish and generous to those with whom he associated.

He was preceded in death by his wife, four children, his father, mother, one sister and two brothers. He is survived by two nieces, Mary Peters Goodman of Plentywood, Montana; and Paraiso Peters Hipsley of California; five nephews, Harold Starr of California and Earl Starr of Gilman, Ia.; Ernest, James and Forest Peters of Billings, Montana.

Funeral services were held from the Friends church Tuesday afternoon, July 30, 1935, conducted by Rev. Verne Butler of Sully. Music was furnished by a quartette composed of Mrs. Will Allee, Mrs. Charles Wagaman, A.T. Gifford and Charles Potter, accompanied by Mrs. A.T. Gifford.

Pallbearers were John Wisgerhof, Homer Jay, Ray Sparks, A.L. Renaud, Cecil Gertsma, and J.C. Trease. Interment in the Swan cemetery.

Those attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Starr and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Bringleson and daughter, Doris, all of Gilman, Ia.; Mrs. C.B. Stafford, Miss Freda Parsons of Des Moines; Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Starr of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McDonough and Mr. and Mrs. Cash McDonough and Jake Shane, all of Grinnell; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Squire and Mrs. John Squire of Lancaster, Mo.; Mr. Ross Mowery and daughter, Virginia of Newton; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Van Zanty and Mrs. Clarence Strovers and two sons of Grinnell.
