LEXIE CORWIN

Lexie "Toots" Ina Corwin, 88, of Memphis, Mo., formerly of South Elgin, Ill., the sister of Vernon Turner of Grinnell, died March 5 at Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Illinois.

A memorial service was conducted Tuesday at Payne Gerth-Chapel in Memphis, Mo. Memorials in her name may be made to the Bible Grove First Christian Church Cemetery Fund.

She was born in Kentucky May 16, 1900, the daughter of John and Mary Green Turner. When she was 3, she moved with her family to Grinnell. She was married to Carroll Dickerson, and the couple had one son, Everett.

Mr. Dickerson preceded her in death. She was married to Gus Corwin in 1932, and he died in 1969.

Mrs. Corwin was a member of the Bible Grove 4-H Extension Club, president and member of Navy Mothers Club in Memphis, past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge at Canton, Mo., president of Past Noble Grand Club of Central City Rebekah Lodge No. 368, and state installing officer for Illinois Rebekah District No. 6.

She is survived by three brothers, Perry Turner of Streator, Ill., Hilliard Turner of Mesa, Ariz., and Vernon Turner of Grinnell; one sister, Thelma Mortenson of Mesa; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son, Everett; one grandson; a sister, Lena Climent; and one brother, Herman Turner.
