MRS. KATE BRESSLER PASSES AWAY

A most estimable lady passed on inst. Tuesday when Mrs. Kate Bressler died at her home here. She was born Kate Watts, daughter of Hiram and Matilda Watts, in Iowa City, Ia., January 23, 1847, and died at her home in Grinnell, August 14, 1928, in her eighty-second year.

March 27, 1864, she was united in marriage with William Johnson, who died September 13, 1888. To this union was born one son, Hiram D. Johnson, who lives at Pratt, Kansas. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Mrs. Helen Johnson Mason, and two great-grandchildren, living at Norton, Kansas; two sisters, Mary Hills of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Mrs. Alice Mann of Des Moines, Iowa.

March 22, 1906, she was married to Martin Bressler. Mr. Bressler died March 12, 1908.

Mrs. Bressler spent the most of her life at Iowa City. On her marriage to Mr. Bressler she moved to Grinnell and continued to make her home here until her death. For the past three or four months Mrs. Bressler has been gradually failing but not until a few days ago did it become apparent that the end was near. She was a woman of strong character and had many friends. She was well liked by all who knew her and her going will occasion sorrow to her friends.

Funeral services were held at her late home in Grinnell on Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock conducted by the Rev. George Blagg of the Methodist church. Appropriate hymns were sung by Mrs. Ethel Carter and Mr. Cecil Myers. The body was taken to Iowa City, Thursday morning, where services were held at two o'clock p.m. and where burial was made.
