M. BRESSLER

The funeral of the late Martin Bressler, who died suddenly of heart failure at his home on West street, Thursday morning, was held at the house Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. Arthur Hurley. The pall bearers were A.B. Gage, W.C. Williams, K.?A. Barr, B.A. Stowe, Wm. Bortell and L.D. Forehand. The services at the grave were in charge of the I.O.O.F. and Gordon Granger Post.

The deceased came to this city two years ago from Muscatine, having previously to that lived in Iowa City. Here he was married to the wife who survives him. After coming here he engaged in the grocery business and then later in the meat market business.

Mr. Bressler had a fine war record. He entered the army in February of 1864 as a member of Co. A Fiftieth Pennsylvania infantry, when he was but 18 years of age. He was discharged at the close of the war. During the more than a year that he was in service he was under fire 317 days, taking part in the battles of the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Petersburg and many others. His fine war record was known and a few years ago he was offered the position of special aide on the staff of Grand Marshal General Samuel K. Schwenck in the New York City Memorial day parade.

Mr. Bressler always had a good reputation here and leaves many friends who sympathize with his widow in her loss.
