MR. FORTUNE RITES FRIDAY

Francis L. Fortune, 70, of Pontiac, Mich., died Sunday, July 29, at his home.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell, with the Rev. Harry Linnenbrink officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

The son of Charles and Ethel Smith Fortune, he was born July 15, 1914, at Athens, Mo. He was a graduate of Fort Madison High School and Chillicothe Trades College.

Following his education, he moved to Pontiac. He was married to Catherine Mary Wisecarver on Dec. 7, 1940, at Pontiac. Mr. Fortune was a construction supervisor with Darin Armstrong Construction prior to his retirement.

He was a member of St. Michael's and St. Joseph's Catholic churches of Pontiac and was also a member of the V.F.W., the N.R.A., the Detroit Sportsmen's Club and the Jimmy Day Amvets Club of Detroit.

He is survived by two brothers, Charles of Pontiac and James of Fort Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
