VERA L. BELLAND

Funeral services for Mrs. Vera L. Belland, 77, of Brooklyn, were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Mrs. Belland died Wednesday, June 11, 1986, in University Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.

Rev. Raymond D. Moore, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, officiated. The organist was Mrs. Nina Bartachek. Flower attendants were Mrs. Verna Akery and Mrs. Faye Gallagher. Casket-bearers were Gene Osborn, Maynard Saylor, Don Brannian, Ray Gallagher, Bill Heitsman and Robert Niemann. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Vera L. Morrison Belland, daughter of Samuel Morrison and Mary Swain Morrison was born near Brooklyn, Ia., Aug. 31, 1908. She was a life long resident of the Brooklyn area receiving her education in the Brooklyn School graduating from high school in 1928. She was united in marriage to Robert W. Belland in Grinnell on June 29, 1930.

Mrs. Belland was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, and a member of the Francis Gallagher American Legion Post Auxiliary.

Survivng Mrs. Belland are her son and his wife, Sam and Grace Belland of Williamsburg; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Patten of Brooklyn; three grandchildren, Tom Belland of Williamsburg, Tamara Belland of Seattle, Wash., and Lucinda, Mrs. Jim Anderson, of Des Moines; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Belland was prededed in death by her parents, her husband who died Jan. 27, 1984, and one brother, Cecil Morrison.
