RITES HELD FOR MRS. CLAUDE KEENEY

Funeral services were conducted Feb. 25th from the Bramer Funeral Home for Mrs. Claude Keeney, 71, a resident of Brooklyn. Rev. M.C. Shupe officiated at the 2:00 p.m. service. Organist was Mrs. Ed Bartachek.

Casket bearers were Jack Newman, Jesse Bunnell, Harold Hiner, Emil Prusha, Joseph Collum, Sr. and Dan Akery. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Mary Emma, the daughter of Benjamin and Almena Jane Swain, was born July 23, 1887, in Guernsey, Iowa. She received her education in rural schools in the Guernsey and Ladora communities.

She was married to Samuel H. Morrison Feb. 21, 1906, at the Moravian church near Brooklyn and three children were born to the couple. Mr. Morrison died Oct. 3, 1916.

With her children, she moved to Brooklyn in 1916 where she had made her home ever since. Her marriage to Claude B. Keeney took place Dec. 25, 1924, at Montezuma.

Mrs. Keeney had suffered a stroke last June and had been hospitalized and confined to her home since that time. Her death occurred at her home in northeast Brooklyn Monday, Feb. 23, 1959, following a heart attack.

Survivors include her husband, Claude; two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Mary J.) Patten and Mrs. Robert (Vera) Belland, both of Brooklyn; one son, Cecil S. Morrison of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one brother, William Swain of Belle Plaine.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Sarah Negley, and one brother, Charles Swain.
