EVELYN GIANCOLA

Evelyn H. Giancola, 80, of Grinnell died of cancer Friday, June 27, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Zirklebach, pastor of Grace Community Church, officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of James C. and Laura P. Woods Carter, she was born June 4, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo. She was married to Ralph A. Giancola March 12, 1935, in Waterloo, Ill. They made their home in St. Louis where Mrs. Giancola worked part time at Stephens Manufacturing. She moved to Grinnell in 1964 and was employed with the food service at Grinnell College for several years.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Linda Mega of Murietta, Calif., and Laura Loucks of Newton; three sons, Ralph of St. Charles, Mo., Nick of Minneapolis and Dennis of Des Moines; one sister, Wanda Painter of Bailey, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard; one brother, J. Cleatis Carter; and two sisters, Cleola L. Favingnano and Winona L. Walsh.

An Evelyn H. Giancola Memorial Fund has been established.
