RITES FOR BAILEY EVANS HELD SATURDAY

Funeral services for Bailey Evans were conducted by the Rev. Douglas Smiley Saturday afternoon, January 18, at the Barnes City Christian Church. Mrs. Wayne Pitman was the soloist accompanied by Mrs. William Landstrum, organist.

Casket bearers were Carl Ewald, Alfred Graham, William Landstrum, Paul Likens, Paul Kinzebach, and Norman Stevens. Interment was at the Barnes City cemetery.

Mr. Evans, 83, died at his home Wednesday, January 15.

The son of Joseph and Emma Darland Evans, he was born near Barnes City on April 14, 1885.

He attended rural school and as a young man worked in a mill in Lamar, Colo., where he met and married Ida Klock on Oct. 6, 1909. They established their home near Barnes City where their entire married life of nearly 60 years has been spent.

Bailey was a member of the Barnes City Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Carl; and two sisters, Mona Evans and Effie Bryan.

He is survived by his wife; their two daughters, Mrs. Marvel Van Cleave of Independence, Iowa, and Mrs. Ruby Wymore, of Geneseo, Ill.; one son, Delmar, of Meridian Miss.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Carver of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Ulah Ferguson of Oskaloosa.
