MARIE HULL SERVICES HELD

Marie A. Hull, 91, of 1527 Ninth Ave., Grinnell, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 18, at St. Francis Manor.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert C. Smith, pastor of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, officiating. Organist was Edward Bohstedt. Pallbearers were Verne Brooke, Warren Broders, William Morrison, Lowell Northcutt, Vernon Northcutt, Eric Palmer, Tom Palmer and Ernest Thorson. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials in Mrs. Hull's name may be made to the Grinnell First Baptist Church.

The daughter of John H. and Elmira Farmer Palmer, she was born July 8, 1892, near Ewart. She moved with her family to Grinnell in 1896 and attended Grinnell schools. The family later moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she attended high school. Following the death of her mother in 1909, she returned to Iowa and lived with the H.G. Hull family near Taintor.

On Feb. 28, 1917, she was married to Harold L. Hull in Grinnell. The couple farmed near Taintor for 18 years and near Grinnell for 21 years. Mr. Hull died in 1956, and she continued to live on the farm until moving to Grinnell in 1963.

She attended the Grinnell First Baptist Church, the Federated Grandmothers Club and the Birthday Club of Grinnell, the Daughters of Union Veterans and Grant No. 7 Harmony Ladies Aid.

Survivors include her son, Donald Hull of Grinnell, four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; one daughter, Melba I. Mitchell; one grandson; one brother, Ralph Palmer; and an infant sister.
