ETHEL CARTER SERVICES HELD

Ethel C. Carter of 906 S. 5th Ave. E. in Newton died Saturday evening at the Marshalltown Community Hospital. She was 83 years of age.

Ethel C. Carter was born to Denton E. and Corabell Cadwallder Dawkins on Nov.10, 1891 at Downing, Mo. She was married to Leland J. Carter on April 2, 1922 at Grinnell, Ia. She and her husband resided in Grinnell until 1932 when they moved to Newton.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967, two brothers and her parents. Survivors include four nephews, Jim Dawkins, Phoenix, Ariz.; John E. Dawkins, Shawnee Mission, Kans.; Wm. H. Dawkins, Boone, Ia. and Richard H. Dawkins, San Antonio, Tex.; a niece, Mrs. Harriet E. McClurg, Newell, Ia. and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Nina Dawkins, Grinnell and Mrs. Eva Dawkins, Ogden, Ia.

Services for Mrs. Carter were held at Toland-Wallace Funeral Home in Newton on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

Interment was in Newton Union Cemetery.
