GUY COOPER SERVICES HELD

Guy E. Cooper, 78, of 505 Broad St., Grinnell, died Sunday evening at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Sam Reaves, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Damon R. Reese, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Organist was Naomi Reaves. Pallbearers were Bill Belcher, Bob Kline, Gordon Roorda, Madison Tomfeld, Louis Smith, and Marion See. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials in Mr. Cooper's name may be left at the Smith Funeral Home.

The son of Joseph and Polly Burnett Cooper, he was born March 13, 1900, at Mt. Pisgah, Ky. He attended school in Monticello, Ky., and Grinnell.

On July 23, 1921, he was married to Mabel Hoagland at Newton. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper farmed near Pella until the mid-1940s when the family moved to Grinnell. While in Grinnell, Mr. Cooper owned and operated Cooper Produce and Hatchery and Cooper Transfer. Following his retirement he began Cooper's Handyman Service and continued in that capacity until he became ill in September 1977. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Mrs. Robert (Eloise) Otto of Grinnell, Burton L. Cooper of Antioch, Calif., Kenneth L. Cooper of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Robert (Ruby) Teed of Grinnell, Donald J. Cooper of Grinnell, and Mrs. Donald (Loretta) Burrell of Aurora, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters,Mrs. Glen (Flonnie) Bell of Grinnell, Mrs. Paul (Marie) Middleton of Florida, and Mrs. Dorothy Herwehe of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wendell Cooper.
