HARRY J. KILMER, SR., 73

Harry Johnathan Kilmer Sr., 73, of Brooklyn, died Saturday night, Dec. 1, 2001, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines, following a hunting accident.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, with the Rev. David Rogula officiating. Pallbearers will be Johnathan Kilmer, Austin Kilmer, Chase Kilmer, Jody Clayton, Gary Merical, Andy McCulley and Wade Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Osborn, Dean Lippincott and Don Brannian. Interment will follow in Harmony Cemetery with military rites conducted by Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294 of Brooklyn.

Harry, the son of Amos *Almer Kilmer and Margaret L. Stevens Kilmer, was born Nov. 19, 1928, near Montezuma. He received his education in a rural school and at the Deep River and Guernsey High School.

He was married to Dona Carter and they were later divorced.

Harry farmed for many years, worked at Amana Refrigeration and was last employed by Manatts where he was the sign shop foreman.

He was a member of the Francis Gallagher American Legion Post.

Surviving are his special companion, Elsie Kalinay of Brooklyn; two daughers, Janyll (Charles) Baird of Las Vegas,. Nev., and Launee (Rusty) Massengale of Malcom; two sons, Harry Jr. (Diane) Kilmer and Dana (Latricia) Kilmer, both of Brooklyn; a brother, Fred Kilmer of Kirksville, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.

His parents and one son, Carl Amos, preceded him in death.
